Sea Swim Practice
Monday evenings from January 27th, we start sea swimming training in the sheltered waters of Lowry Bay or Petone beach. All club members are welcome to come along and practice sea swimming in the bay guided by canoeists from the club. This is a great way to build your confidence in seawater under the watch of the canoeists and get some practice in for those wanting to participate in the aibGROUP Matiu (Somes) Island to Petone swim on the 29th of February. aibGROUP Matiu (Somes) Island 72nd Annual Sea Swim 29th February 2020 29th of February 2020 is the 72nd anniversary of the annual Matiu (Somes) Island to Petone sea swim first swum in 1948. The 3.2 km (approx.) swim starts from the Matiu (Somes) Island wharf finishing at the Petone Settlers Museum. This a non-wetsuit event swum individually or as part of a relay.
